Ableton Live Mixing Lesson 2
2. BUILD THE MIX AROUND YOUR KICK DRUM
Welcome to Lesson Two in "Make Space For Bass".
In the first Lesson we cleaned up all our sounds to get them ready for mixing.
Now each sound is loud and clear but there's a problem -- the overall mix is completely unbalanced.
We'll fix that in Lesson Two with some simple "bottom up" mixing where you mix the kick, sub-bass, drums and synths.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
In this lesson you learn the most important piece of the puzzle -- how loud to set your kick drum.
We're going to continue mixing our 16-channel house track at 122bpm, as you learn how to build up a mix with "bottom-up" strategy.
You'll learn how to bring in the Drums, Synths, Bassline, Reverb and Delay.
And you'll continue using our Gain Staging techniques to measure the levels and make sure we have plenty of space for that deep, heavy kick drum on the bottom.
